Jane provides specialist strategic, policy and technical advice to advance sustainable ocean governance and blue economy development across Commonwealth member states. Her work contributes to the implementation of major international agreements, including the UN Agreement on Biodiversity Beyond National Jurisdiction (BBNJ), and supports alignment between environmental governance, regulatory frameworks, and sustainable investment approaches.
Prior to joining the Commonwealth Secretariat, Jane led on nature and biodiversity-focused advisory engagements across emerging market at KPMG UK, and previously worked in the UK Government where she led on implementation of biodiversity regulations and supported international biodiversity negotiations. She completed a PhD in 2020 involving research into options for responsible management of marine genetic resources in the context of the emerging BBNJ Agreement.
