Elodie Broad.

Head of Impact & Sustainable Future Goals (SFGs), Balderton Capital

Elodie joined Balderton as Head of Impact and Sustainable Future Goals (SFGs) in 2022. She is responsible for driving forward Balderton’s impact strategy and sharing best practices while working closely with Balderton’s portfolio on the ESG goals.

Elodie previously worked for Deloitte’s Strategy Consulting Practice, focusing on policy design, strategic transformation and impact-led innovation projects. As part of Deloitte’s Sustainable Finance team, Elodie oversaw ESG strategy and regulatory readiness in the investment management and private equity sectors.

Elodie also spent time in Australia, setting up Deloitte’s Australia Climate Action programme, where she saw the devastating effects of climate change first-hand during the bushfire crisis.

Elodie holds a BA in Education and MML (French) from Cambridge University and an MSc in International and Comparative Education from Oxford University. 

Kresse Wesling CBE.

Co-founder, Elvis & Kresse

Co-farmer, New Barns Farm

Kresse is a multi-award-winning environmental entrepreneur.

After first meeting the London Fire Brigade in 2005, Kresse launched Elvis & Kresse, which rescues and transforms decommissioned fire hose into innovative lifestyle products and returns 50% of profits to the Fire Fighters Charity. The company now collects 12 different waste streams and has several charitable partnerships and collaborations across industries.

In 2021 Elvis & Kresse also took on a farm in order to establish a regenerative agriculture project, generate their own renewables and implement a host of environmental initiatives.

Chloe Zhang.

Investor Relationships Manager, CPI Enterprises

Chloe is the Investor Relationships Manager of CPI Enterprises, based in London to expand the deep tech investor community, and to engage with academia and SMEs to explore potential investment and partnership opportunities.

Prior to joining CPI, Chloe has 9 years significant experience of the early-stage investment ecosystem. She was partner at China's first and largest Entrepreneurship educational platform and incubator before co-founding a US-China-based micro-VC and accelerator, which she later exited successfully. She then launched the UK entity of a family office and CVC, G5 Capital before joining CPI in 2022.

Chloe started her career in media and consulting. She holds an MBA from Imperial College Business School and a MSc in Financial Journalism from City University London.

Oliver Bolton.

CEO & Co-founder, Earthly

“If we reach net zero without solving the biodiversity crisis, we’re toast.” 

Olly’s passion, and Earthly’s mission, is to help companies invest in nature in a way that meets business goals. The corporate world can feel far-removed from nature, and carbon removal can feel like an abstract concept. For this reason, Oliver has guided Earthly to leverage technology including AI, animation and APIs to bring about a new way for companies to show their action on climate.

As a climate-tech entrepreneur, Oliver is passionate about reversing climate breakdown, restoring our planet, and leaving a better Earth for future generations. He previously launched Europe’s first B Corp drinks company Waterbomb and co-founded the UK’s leading subscription nutrition platform VITL.com. In 2017 he was the recipient of the Virgin VOOM award from Sir Richard Branson. He is an active B Corp Ambassador and enjoys mentoring school children through The Prince’s Trust.

 

Pippa Gawley.

Founding Partner, Zero Carbon Capital

Pippa is the Founding Partner of Zero Carbon Capital, solving the biggest challenges of decarbonisation with pre-seed and seed investments in ambitious teams building  hard-science solutions across Europe and Israel. Zero Carbon started in 2020 with a UK-focussed fund invested in seven amazing companies, and is now investing from its second fund across Europe.

Pippa started investing in decarbonisation technologies in California eight years ago as an angel, where she was an active member of the impact investing ecosystem. Prior to that, she held a variety of roles in technology companies - general management, business analysis, and consumer-facing interactive user experience research and design.

She holds a Masters degree in Manufacturing Engineering from the University of Cambridge.

Sam Trevethyen.

Global Brand Ambassador, Discarded Spirits Co

Sam is the Global Brand Ambassador for Discarded Spirits Co., and it is fair to say he takes the Brands Mission to Reverse Needless Waste seriously.

With a diverse career in both the coffee and spirits industry, Sam's passion for showing people how easy it us to turn what might be seen as 'waste' into amazing cocktails is unparalleled.

Tone Langengen.

Senior Policy Advisor, Climate & Energy, Tony Blair Institute

Tone is an expert in net-zero policy and strategy. Her work highlights the importance of practical policy solutions that address climate change.  

At TBI’s 2023 Future of Britain Conference, Tone was instrumental in developing the net-zero policy programme and worked with a technology company to show political leaders how embracing tech solutions and the strategic use of data can lead to better delivery outcomes.  

Prior to joining TBI, Tone worked in the UK civil service on various net-zero policy areas such as heat-and-transport decarbonisation and green growth. In addition, she worked in the Cabinet Office where she helped deliver the response to the Covid-19 pandemic. 

Mehrnaz Ghojeh.

Founder, Okhtapus

Mehrnaz is the Founder of Okhtapus, the first global platform providing the missing blueprint to replicate and scale solutions that work in our ocean, islands, and coasts.

She is a globally recognised urbanist and climate justice leader bringing over a decade of expertise in scaling and financing solutions at nexus of climate, society and economy and advising mayors and governments across cities in Africa, Asia, Latin America, Middle East and Europe.

Mehrnaz has most recently been leading a UNFCCC award winning global programme at C40 Cities, working with a network of over 100 mayors and mega cities and leading efforts on scaling and financing a just transition and helping mobilise over $ 2.5 billion in climate finance.

Trained as an architect, Mehrnaz has been working across the public, private and third sectors as a multidisciplinary designer, futurist and international development specialist, focusing particularly on some of the most pressing matters of our time including the future of our cities, our planet, our economy, our health and our society. Mehrnaz, holds several advisory positions with WHO, WRI, Google, Wellcome Trust to name a few.

She has been a regular lecturer at universities in the UK and internationally helping design and deliver a number of executive and higher education courses.

 

Celia Francis.

CEO & Co-founder, Ponterra

Celia Francis is a seasoned entrepreneur and executive in both the tech and climate industries. She has founded multiple companies that led to successful exits and is a 3x CEO.

Over her career, Celia has held senior roles at T Mobile, Rated People, and Terraformation and serves on the board of directors of Urban Partners, a leading European real estate investor, and KlimatX, a developer of nature-based carbon projects.

On top of Ponterra - Celia also founded The Art of Forests – an alliance of the world’s most experienced large scale forest organizations with 190 members globally. As a skilled leader, Celia offers an unparalleled network and decades of experience setting strategic priorities, executing on commercial goals, leading teams, and engaging with diverse stakeholders.

Celia is a graduate of Harvard and holds an MBA from MIT. She is a frequent public speaker, including at TEDx.

Julie Blane.

Founding Partner, The Table

I work in the intersectionality of venture capital and impact as both an ESG Advisor for fund managers and as an Angel Investor. I am active in climate tech networks convening, sourcing and collaborating with early stage investors.

As an angel investor I am sector agnostic and climate-positive; I favour women-led and mixed teams to increase gender balance and investment opportunities - which led to The Table.

My approach to venture capital bridges a mindset that investment returns are aligned with outcomes, which has been shaped by my early career within the philanthropy and NGO sectors in the US, Israel, UK and Europe.

Joyeeta Das.

Co-founder & CEO, Samudra Oceans

Joyeeta, a visionary leader in the UK's deep-tech landscape with over a decade of experience and multiple Ivy League qualifications. She founded three successful startups and serves on the boards of global companies, passionately advocating for the use of technology to drive social good.

Joyeeta has been recognized as an Innovate UK Women in Tech Ambassador, featured in the Financial Times BAME 100 list, and honored with the UK Pioneering Woman in Tech award from Diversity UK. Her influence as a speaker extends to prestigious platforms like the UN, the World Economic Forum, and the Scottish Seaweed Industry Association.

Recently, she was part of a UK delegate mission to Canada for Oceans with the Global Business Innovation Programme, furthering her commitment to sustainable innovation and global collaboration.

Jenny McPhee.

Brand Director, The Alchemist Bars & Restaurants

Jenny is the Brand Director of The Alchemist, the UK’s leading creative cocktail bar and restaurant business.

Established in Manchester in 2010 and renowned for its highly theatrical drinks offer, the group now operates 23 venues in major cities around the UK and one venue internationally in Berlin, Germany.

Jenny looks after the brand’s identity and integrity; online, in venue and in the media, in a role that covers everything from venue design, spirit partnerships and activations.

Jenny curated the brands first cocktail recipe book with Penguin books which has now sold over 55,000 copies worldwide.

Sarah Bertram Smith

Director, Next Generation VC, HSBC Innovation Banking

Sarah is a Director within the Investor Coverage team at HSBC Innovation Banking, leading the ‘Next Gen’ proposition. She works with the highest potential Principal and Junior Partner investors in the UK, supporting them and their portfolio with access to sector and stage specific financial services, expertise, and ecosystem connectivity. Her background spans the innovation ecosystem, having worked as a VC herself, founded a mental health tech startup, and consulted for seed to series B startups, as well as 4 years in fixed income sales and trading. She speaks 3 languages, has travelled over 60 countries, is a qualified yoga teacher, and Mummy to a 2y old girl.

 

Hannah-Mei Andrews.

Director, Climate Investment

Based in London, Hannah-Mei Andrews is a Director in the Investment Team at Climate Investment, a multi-fund decarbonization investor covering venture and growth stage investments in the industrial sector.

Hannah-Mei joined Climate Investment in 2018 and is a Board member at CI portfolio companies, METRON and OnTruck, and a Board observer at Converge, Norsepower, Turntide Technologies and ZincFive.

Prior to joining Climate Investment, Hannah-Mei worked in a variety of commercial roles in government cybersecurity and defence. She has an MA(Hons) from the University of St Andrews and in 2023 was named one of Global Corporate Venturing’s Top 50 Rising Stars.

Hermione Dace.

Policy Advisor, Climate & Energy, Tony Blair Institute

Hermione is a Policy Advisor in the Climate and Energy team at the Tony Blair Institute. She specialises in food and agriculture policy, focussing on the tech solutions needed to address the environmental impacts of food systems and boost food security. She also supports the team’s work on broader climate and energy policy.

Carmel Rafaeli.

Founding Partner, The Table

I support early stage climate ventures as an advisor, mentor and Angel Investor. I work with and invest in climate tech startups across sectors - from SaaS, through materials to hardware and robotics. 

I have been an entrepreneur for most of my career: 15+ years bringing innovations to life in a variety of products and platforms in tech and non tech sectors ranging from brick and mortar fashion to hospitality tech and IP tech. Focusing on climate and sustainability for the past 5 years.

My passion is to help accelerate sustainable innovation by creating better connections between innovators, corporates and investors.
